The story of panda Lele
Share
Giant panda Lele, male, pedigree number: 606, was born on August 8, 2005 at the Hetaoping Wild Rewilding Training Base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda. Lele is one of the second pair of giant pandas (the other is female giant panda Yingying) donated by the State Forestry Administration to Hong Kong in 2007 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China. Lele and Yingying live together in Hong Kong Ocean Park. In March 2024, Lele and Yingying successfully completed natural mating in Hong Kong Ocean Park. Subsequently, Yingying gave birth to a pair of twin giant panda babies in the early morning of August 15, which is the first time that Hong Kong has welcomed locally born giant panda twins.
